Like the changing light of eyes, chameleon colored

I have yet to bare my soul to you.
I've seen some of yours,
beautifully ragged and torn and patched,
but still strong, gentle.
Like the old quilts my grandmother made.
Only you're not half so old as they.

Our souls are old, regardless of our mortal age,
they've known much, seen much,
staring through copper eyes into a spectrum
of past, present, future.
Mine linger in the past,
yours glance back now and then,
but always know what's behind.

Simply Jane

Jane Austen, one of the most well-loved female authors in history. She finished only six novels, but once released, they were never out of print. Her witticism, sharp eye for what was going on in social settings and her love for romance impressed kings and the public alike - and it still does. Many still draw inspiration from the characters Jane so lovingly created, with flaws and a sense of humanity which makes us love them even more.

This month we celebrate her life with the bicentennial of her death on July 18th. Jane put down her quill exactly four months before her passing, knowing she would not write again. However, her legacy lives on and will continue to do so in the future. Thank you for every drop of ink you left on paper, Jane.

Abandoned, yet not forgotten

How stupid to abandon something I loved because someone I loved abandoned me.

The old shed sits askew on rollicking wavy hills.
Rocked and rolled by time and wind relentless.
It sits yielded, poised, defiant, with a lilt of tilt
To hum, as it rides out its days of torment and stress

To yield, lean and tilt over, is what rough sheds do
When made makeshift, by shoddy farmers,
Just trying to get something up in a hurry.
But time yields lovely looks to old sheds wrinkled awry with tilt.

NEW HORIZONS

A fresh new year is once again upon us. It’s the time to be thankful for the blessings of the past year and to take stock of all our achievements. At the same time, New Year 2017 is a brand new year to start afresh, to start strong, and yet another chance to do everything we want to do this year.
The amazing thing with chances is how we get them every year. So, set positive goals and resolutions. Hang them where you can see them every hour of the new year. And be excited for what you can achieve this 2017.
